After removing the old retaining wall that was falling down for a client and fitting a new one plus a fence to stop people falling off the wall I noticed many things wrong with the old wall hence it failing to retain the dirt.
If you are looking at building a retaining wall here are some rules to follow.
:Any retaining over 1.5 high need to be engineered.
:Dig the dirt back atleast 500mm further than the lagging will be so you can nail or screw it to posts easily.
:For strength the dirt should push the lagging into the posts not off the posts (dirt, lagging then posts)
:Once retaining is built before re-filling with dirt put in novacoil allong the bottom of the wall on the retaining side and cover with a layer of gap 7-10 drainage rock.
